I have a different kind of cycling issue with my Rem. 1187. I know a common issue of many owners has been a gun that won't cycle after it fires, and it's often a matter of replacing a gasket. My issue is a little different. The gun will not take a shell from the magazine and load it into the chamber unless it has been fired. Simple temp. solution is to hunt with the gun and when its time to unload, eject the shell from the chamber, dry fire, and manually reload and unload the next shell. Repeat again to empty the gun. Any thoughts on what is keeping the shell from transitioning from the magazine to the chamber?

I have a Rem 1187 sportsman supermag and I think I might have had the same problem this past season. I popped the two pins out to drop the trigger assembly out and I looked inside (didn't see anything) and after I put the assembly back in with the pins it began cycling correctly. I did nothing to it and it has worked fine since then. It might have been a fluke but try dropping the trigger group out and putting it back in. Maybe something is jammed and just needs loosened.

Usually it's better to diagnose the problem and move forward when you have a gun worth fixing (i.e. 11-87). At least it's not some overpriced piece of Benelli Italian crap! :D
