subway is usually open late, skip the vinager and oil, mayo and mustard on the side and your friends will hate you at 8 am when you pull that thing out especially when you've been up since 3.   this is if you are'nt one of the lucky guys who have a kitchen in the blind or a wife who likes huntin and will make you food.

AND A REDBULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By arkansashogs18 - 8/2/2010 11:51:20 PM
red bull is way overpriced, get a monster or rockstar with twice as many ounces and only $2

i've got to give my recommendation on 5-hour energy drinks. i'm all for that massive caffeine kick, but these taste "better" (aka, nasty taste, less volume over the tongue). plus i feel that it works better too...

We'll go to Sonic here because there's one with places to pull through if you have a trailer. Which is pretty redneck/sweet.

How bout some good old strong coffee instead of the red bull. Gets you going at 4am . But each to his own. Can't wait for those early mornings

There's nothing better than a hot breakfast in a cold duck blind.  A couple of eggs, some bacon maybe even hashbrowns off the little campstove. Then of course the hot coffee out of the thermos. We use a single burner stove and a 1 pound propane tank, not to bulky even for us walk-in hunters. Just my 2 cents.

I'm with the coffee guys. Energy drinks don't really do it for me and a hot cup of joe on a cold day is the way to go. As for the 5 hour energy, it is the only one that kinda works, but coffee is cheaper and sure tastes a whole lot better.

If I drink coffee it is usually while I am still at home.  That or an energy drink in the car on the way to our spot will do for me and I have taken to packing a thermos full of hot chocolate.  Required equipment if you are taking a kid hunting on a cold morning, which I do most days.

cup of hot coffee on those bone chilling mornings is hard to beat.

I'll stick with a pinch of copenhagen wintergreen and a thermos full of coffee. Anything that comes after that tends to disagree with the ole back side.. waders and gas don't mix! lol

I'm more of an upland hunter, but I never liked the idea of cooking in the field, I'm sure it is fun, but it's too much to pack, transport, and clean for me.  I can see why serious duck hunters do it, I take a bit of an old school approach.  I wake up earlier then I have too and make a big hearty breakfast, bacon or sausage, eggs, beans, and toast with a strong cup of black coffee.  Then I take a travel mug filled with coffee to my spot.

If its a full-day of hunting I will pack a couple sandwiches, maybe a thermos full of soup, stew, or chili if it is cold, and thermos full of coffee.

Then for dinner I like a big warm meal at the cabin or my house and a couple fingers of bourban to cap off the nigh.

Perfect day....

I love my coffee on cold hunts but then I need my toilet paper to go with energy for early in the season
